Changed boost cap and now got a Raster of sorts! Not full width and height and fly back lines. Will now start capacitor replacement, Hope my LOPT holds out. I don't Know the history of this set, the Lopt looked pretty bad when i got it, all cracked and melted over the chassis, so i refrained from powering it up until i cleaned it up a bit. Seems a lot of people go for the soaking it in turps for a week to dissolve the pitch then passing DC through it for a while to dry it out. I didn't read anything about this until now and had already stuck it on a baking tray at 180 in the oven for 20mins then picked all the pitch off with my asbestos thumbs (Now healed). I then used WD40 to clean the residue, baked it a further 5 mins to burn off the WD40, fitted new Rectifier tube, and sprayed the whole thing with anti-corona spray (from the 1980's). The future will see how it holds out ! Reading all the scare mongering out there i'm looking at a couple of hours max !!!
