The EY51 heater puzzled me too, as the heater is glowing the transformer must be working, also i can get a spark off tag 7. So this evening i checked the voltages on tube base and i only have about 70v on the A1. So i replaced C18 Reservoir cap and tried again. i now have only 25v on A1 !!! Could the metrosil of failed ? i don't know much about these could i just use a 1n4007 or similar temporally? or will i have to try and source one. is there any way of testing it ? also i now seem to have EHT, if i touch the screwdriver on the crt anode it flashes over to whats left of the conductive coating on the tube, is there something i could paint back on to make this good again, i think there is still enough left to work, but it would be nice to fix this (tidy it up).
