I thought I had buggered the power supply by trying to see if I could slow the fan down with a resistor in the supply.
The PSU would not turn on after a while of trying different combinations of the 4 wires to the fan.
It was resolved when I shorted the power supply output, it must have reset the controllers.
It seems to be working OK again now, with the fan still blowing at full belt, and very noisy.
