It is down to economics on two counts.
Due to there not being enough electronics companies remaining in this country it is hardly worth making up a batch with UK plugs fitted that they have just not bothered.
Fitting a socket to match the existing plug will to some extent help to stop pilfering as the plug would have to be changed for it to be used again.
