Drilled the 4 chassis mounting points in the cabinet corners a bit deeper and Araldited 4 new 2BA studs in.
The bakelite is very thick there and solid, I thing the originals failed due to some extreme shock when the radio was dropped on its back at some time.
The remaining Sprague caps all seem to be serviceable enough, I may restuff the avc decoupler anyway, I found the best way to restuff the metal can was to cut in the groove at one end, heat the cap and pull the guts out. Unsoldering the ends left holes in the end caps for the leads of a new cap. As the caps were wrapped in clear film originally I put them back together with hot melt glue and wrapped in clear Scotch tape.
There are 7 wax caps which I will test and restuff if they are in a high voltage situation.
Tweaked the medium wave trimmer at 200 metres, brought a worthwhile increase in gain. The rest of the alignment seems good, best not to twiddle unnecessarily.
