Bit late replying but.... . From what I can gather these lads build these systems mainly to get the sort of reaction they get at the start of the video you linked Mike. Seems a lot of effort and expense to go to, but that's young lads for you, it's really just another willy waving contest.
Still, from an engineering POV it's interesting, I've been watching this bloke - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Gitey...qyBAt9oM9w fix car amps. How they boost the 12-14v lower voltage high current to get +/-100v and up rails is worth a look as is the beefing up of the cars/vans charging system to run such a rig by installing several big alternators.
