Well, I've definitely seen MW coils wound with solid copper wire and they performed well, so it's worth a try. Then compare the performance with the other coil you have.
If the performance suffers, you'll have to look around for a source of Litz wire - if someone has a LOPT that is beyond repair, the EHT overwind might be a suitable source.
Someone here or over at VRAT (but I'm fairly sure it was here) recently suggested an old SMPS transformer as a source.
