I have to admit - to my shame - that using a domestic iron is hardly one of my skills either, Frank. In fact, apart from ironing this transfer paper, the only time I've handled irons has been to repair them. I used to fit new elements in the days before steam irons and enclosed elements.
A laminator, eh. Good idea. Another friend contacted me to tell me that he uses a press, a screw-down heavy metal item with an electric heater. Probably a left-over from a printing works in the letterpress days. There's room for experimentation, it seems. I'll stick with my method for now, though.
A cheap source of copper laminate board might be useful...
