We seem to manage with very few plastic bags. Most food waste goes to the compost bin via a small bin in the kitchen. Recyclables go in the recycling wheelie bin. Other stuff goes straight in the kitchen pedal bin and thence to the main wheelie bin. If it's very horrible it gets wrapped in newspaper, celophane wrapping etc first.
