Certainly if a suitable bench PSU is available I'd be using that rather than order a switch and bridge, common sense TBH.
I just play around with vintage these days but still have all my test equipment from the old days and woudn't part with it for all the tea in China. Running a business with out the proper gear to me seems like pure penny pinching. I wonder if the speaker speech coil has been tested or there are any signs of distress with it?
Funny the call from my old colleague was to offer sympathy on my wife'e passing but the amp came up in conversation!
