With the coil, all you're really concerned about is whether it's open circuit or not. This is easy to check with a meter. The exact resistance doesn't matter unless you suspect sombody has completely rewound the coil and got it badly wrong. If the coil is open circuit then it will probably have to be rewound, otherwise it's reasonable to assume that it's OK.
