Many thanks your research. I'm certain that's the information I've been looking for. I've received your email and will print out the contents of it later.
Seems that even in 1944 there was concerns about the quality of the 405 line picture.
Cossor suggest a 525/50 TV system for post-war TV broadcasting in the UK.
An extract from the Cossor article:
"We believe that the present standard of 405 lines is on the low side and this 25 per cent increase (which gives a increase of definition of 50 per cent) unless there is unsurmountable objections to this change".
Meanwhile, I've disconnected the power source from the line output transformer so it's time to test the KB TV receiver.
