Having posted the above and checked on HiFi Engine, etc., for further info. , I now find that the Technics Cassette deck in question isn't a RS-X990, but a RS-X121 - a different beast altogether. This one requires an 11v AC supply capable of up to 1 Amp., which, in the system of which it was part, is obtained from a 11-0-11v winding (each leg fused @ 2A) on the mains transformer of the amplifier, so the only way to use the 121 with a Sony (or any other make)amp. will be to use an outboard mains tranny. capable of supplying this, plus the need to find a 3-pin plug to fit the socket on the 121. Because I was asking questions an behalf of a non-member, and haven't seen the cassette deck in question, which I was told was a RS-X990, my first two posts are irrelevant, though they may help someone else 'mixing & matching' different makes of HiFi components.
