I've tried the keyboard in several USB ports - this PC has loads of them. 2 at front, 6 at back. None worked with KB, all worked with mouse. The mobo is IPMB7-MP or IPM87-MP (the chracter is unclear) with a HP logo near the number. Looks like it's made by Pegatron specifically for HP. https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c03885123
This is the procedure I used to reset the BIOS: https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c01700044
The problem is rather catch 22. I need a working KB to access the BIOS but need access to the BIOS to do any useful diagnostics.
In other respects there was certainly some life in the PC. It was able to get part way to booting W10 but I couldn't do anything useful from there without a KB.
