For clarity I should have written: "Since 40MB/s FTTC doesn't cost much more than ADSL a......."
I don't know if the "up" speed matters much to her. The older 40MB/s FTTC often had only 2Mb/s for the uplink. This feels slow if you're sending or uploading big files. I think ISPs now give a faster uplink speed as standard but you'd need to check. The 80Mb/s schemes usually uplink at 20Mb/s.
