I see what you mean about the IF transformer cut-outs. I hadn't noticed that before, one round, the other four individual holes. Quite a few new components have been added, so it is difficult to say what its origins were, but it did work, and worked quite well. I added the output transformer and the jack socket, also the modern pot. Looking at it more closely, the chassis does have an appearnce of homemade, and that cut-out on the front left of the chassis looks like it has been cut with a hacksaw before the sides were folded down. I am now inclined to agree that it is "homebrew."
