Thanks for the suggestion but I really hate seeing modern items in old equipment. I have seen alternators that are made to look like dynamos but they look very basic. My dynamo is a special equipment model with a nickel plated, engine turned body with a nice little oval brass specification plate riveted onto it.
I have no objection to using modern materials when they invisible. For example, I have fitted a later higher capacity oil pump and I use fully synthetic modern oils and I have converted my single leading shoe brakes to twin leading and converted to LED lighting so my old dynamo gives me more than adequate output. http://www.nostalgiatech.co.uk/LED%20Lighting.htm
