Aerial installers often use a very long masonary drill to go through the outer brick and through the cavity to the inside. The only thing I'd advise is to angle the drill slightly downward if drilling from inside to outside to inhibit any water trickling inside the cavity and into the inside material. It may not even be necessary to use a tube if you make the feed through a rod for example with tapped ends for fixing the connections each side of the wall, again though your suggestion sounds fine to me.
