Yes, typical of some circuits which can lead to head scratching!! We used to draw easily read diagrams then we adopted European ideas, perhaps we will draw circuits differently after Brexit Ha Ha. Being serious though check the mixer oscillator, if at the moment your CFL light is loudest at the low frequency end of MW I'd plump for the oscillator not running or way off frequency.
