Indeed it does. You can still use the UY41 and a cap dropper with a reversed IN5408 after the cap and calculate its value to increase the HT up to 250 odd volts, the use of two rectifiers and a cap works like a voltage doubler tamed by careful selection of the cap with the set running. I did this trick with an Ekco AC/DC set some years ago.
