Hi Peter.
The base set was actually the same, the only differences were in the screen and its build. The other small difference was the Schmitt unit with a different corrector lens, allegedly the 2000 number was only to differentiate between it and the 1000 with the 4x3 screen.
They were not a success as brightness levels were just too low, very few were made, I've no details on actual numbers though.
