When you say reflections, presumably you mean of objects and/or lights in the room.

yes, exactly. instead of a point source from a reflection or light you get a braod bar of light across the picture.
With no reflections, the slight curve makes the screen more immersive, but we have an oddly placed window high up that causes irritating reflections.
