I have 3 irons and some spares to keep them going.
My spare stat looks much older than the unit in your iron but it is the right one for the irons I have got.
The one you have got looks fixable to me. You will need to take the black cap off without braking the previous repair and clean out the inside where the glue is obstructing the operation of the contacts. The cap is normally held in place by the external spring. There is another more fragile spring inside the core of the assembly connected to the contacts.
The one in the photo looks like it is right for your iron and would most likely fit mine too.
