Well I was caught out well again yesterday. I was testing the radio, just on it's ferrite rod for aerial, and was happy to get a good listenable result for my favourite Radio Caroline (amongst others). Then I realised that the radio was about a foot and a half from my (unconnected) large (80cm square) tuned frame aerial. Yes a flick of the tuning on the aerial proved it - It may be unwieldy, but it is very useable. The lovely sound out of my radio reduced to a vestige of a station back among the noise. I will have to allocate somewhere else in the house for testing as there is far too much inter-reaction in my tiny space.
On a better note, I left the set on with Caroline playing while I busied myself doing other things. It had a two and a half hour run, and was as happy and on tune at the end of this time as at the beginning.
