My 14 year old Mondeo Diesel has had both rears replaced. In both cases there was only a half circle broken off and I think both dropped out on our driveway. Both had pitting at the point of breakage but because they were just a half circles off the end there wasn't any noticeable difference in ride height or handling. Our street has several speed bumps.
