I'm considering having a play around with a rod pentode as an Anode Bend detector. I'd use the 1j29b with the filaments connected in series fed from two ni-mh AAA batteries, the centre tap of the filaments would be connected to ground via a 15k and 10uf cap. Screen grid fed to HT via a suitable resistor etc and the anode via an HF choke resistor arrangement. The input winding directly connected to G1 and ground. Hopefully the floating filament supply will enable the filaments to "look" like a cathode.
