As to the Wartburg, I had one in the showroom in the late '60s, early '70s. It was a commission deal with another trader.
It stuck for months, some of the doors wouldn't open and it had some horrible rust spots on the roof.
As it wasn't ours, we didn't fix it until we had a mug, er, punter, interested.
A guy walked in one day, his car had expired up the road and he wanted a cheap motor urgently.
Espying the Warty, he was interested but asked what had happened to the roof.
We said that they were the warts! We explained it had been here too long and why.
He was tickled and wanted to buy if we could get it running.
That old 2 stroke fired up and ran like a dream, he had it for some time and used to come in for fuel regularly, never did fix the warts though we got the doors to work for him.
Thinking back we sold some horrible motors, NSU, Moskovich, Pontiac, Ford Galaxy etc.
