I don't think that Premier were that concerned about the valves or bases used in their sets.
That is not judging by the variants that appeared on the market.

Hi Ed,
I reckon it'll be quite in order to fit a Mazda Octal base and use an SP61 for the detector.
The SP61 has a slope of 8.4mA/V, good figures for what is a 1938 valve.
