Hi Andy, diodes in series add balancing resistors across each (say 1 meg).
Also helps to add 1nF (HV ceramic and 220R resistor in series across each to remove transients and ringing.
Stacking transformers can be a problem as it over stresses Pri/sec and bobbin insulation.
