Starts in the right direction too!.

Usual trick is, if it starts up in the wrong direction - it's a 50/50 chance - a pin engages with a spring. When the force of the spring is high enough, it momentarily stops the clock and hurls the pin back in the right direction!

It only takes a fraction of a second, so blink and you'll miss it!

This one has a 3 lobed catch pawl like an escapement wheel driven of the 1st gear, running inside a hole inthe  fat end a paxolin teardrop shape lever. The thin end is mounted on a pin with a spring exerting side thrust presumably to give some friction to this pivot.
Inside the hole is a catch tooth.
If it starts in the wrong direction, the tooth catches, stops the gear, initiating a restart, eventually in the right direction.

Never seen anything like this system.
