With the common 60Hz LCD displays the flicker is very uneven. This is more disturbing than the original 25Hz flicker. 25Hz would be incredibly horrible on a large, modern and bright CRT display. On a small and relatively dim pre-war set it was just about OK. On an LCD display it would be fine

There is no large area flicker on an LCD because of the inherent zero order hold functionality of LCD cells.
