The term "wireless" has always been fun.
My mother used to call the 1950s radio the wireless when I was very young.
The point I made even at that young age was that it indeed had a wire leading to a power socket so how could it be wireless.
My mother had forgotten very quickly that I had been watching telephone wires being installed so I was well versed on the topic of wires.
Quickly I worked out that I was being fobbed off.
A wireless was originally a two way radio right from the start and the name carried on until broadcasting started and then a bit longer.
A 21st century wireless is one of those things that are welded to the sides of peoples faces. They are surely wireless telephones.
