I'm also a user of the Simpson 260 6 and was impressed by its robust construction and its ease of calibration. It has compensation for ageing of the meter movement unlike AVOs of the same period, it is compact and tough. It also interesting that a lot of the early Japanese meters copied the Simpson and Triplett designs, it was not obvious in the UK where the the US designs were rare but noticeable when compared with US designs. The recent history of Simpson is unusual and probably accounts for why they still persist with a quality analogue design after other have given up. In 1985, Simpson Electric was purchased by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. The tribal council made the purchase to preserve the existing work force and to create a more diversified economy for north central Wisconsin.
