Hi.
Today I spent some time on the resistors and a fair number were well out of tolerance.
All the 220k resistors were around 300k the grid resistors for the ECL86 pentodes had risen from 820k to 1.3-1.5m and the 1m earth return had doubled its value. The 220 ohm cathode resistors were up strangely to nearly 300 ohms.
The 8uF non reversible cap for the AFC was O/C and I've fitted a 10uf 100v polypropylene in its place although is a bit big, the AFC now pulls in extremely well indeed. I'd say the set sounds nicer too although there was little to complain about. I have reinstated the De-emphasis cap as well.
I also replaced the 15k's and fitted better 6.8k resistors in the HT feed to the front end.
