That was the point I was making, Peter! Also, the monoscope pic shows the gradually reducing thickness between 325 and 575 lines which the 'fake' does not.
Also, as the monoscope can only produce black or white, the indian head picture is a series of dots, like an old linotype newspaper photograph. The 'fake' picture has a grey scale and some of the lines on the rest of the card vary in width, even if not all the resolution 'lines' do!
