Until Steve wrote this piece I had no idea that an FM limiter could be used as an AM detector. Possibly because it was hardly used in the UK. The other way round, detecting FM with an AM set, slope detection, is well known though probably not much used in commerical designs. Though I could be wrong.
Trevor, will any of the other P series VHF tuner double triodes work as ECC85 replacements? PCC84(30L1, B319), PCC89, PCC189. My valve stock spreadsheet shows I have well over a 100 assorted NOS in box of these types.
