Light bulb quality seems to be very poor nowadays. Over the last 3 or 4 years I have had many bulbs that failed within weeks or months, despite claiming to last for many years. Halogen, LED and CFL have all had this problem. A few days ago a CFL went bang and made me jump. Lucky I wasn't doing a high voltage project at the time or I would have blamed that and it would have been even more scary!
