Probable very few, Jeffrey, but I first encountered that SAW response shortly after someone had wanted to operate sets on both B4 and B5 - not for the first time, although it may have been the same person on two different forums, of course!
B1 and B2 are no problem with DSB modulators because B1 was engineered for DSB in the first place, of course. So B1 and any other channel in Band 1 will work. Any other combination requires one channel (or more) to be left between the two.
I came across the file again recently and thought it might be interesting to throw the idea out to a wider audience for discussion.
If nobody wants to develop it, that's fine by me, but someone might find a use for it, perhaps to recreate a real life situation.
For example, in south Essex it was possible in many places to get decent reception from Dover (B10) in addition to Croydon ( B9). On a visit to the Shoebury area one day back in the 60s it became apparent, from the various directions that aerials were pointing, that an 9-10-11 combination was possible: Croydon (B9); Dover (B10) & Mendlesham (B11)!
In fact, the then ITA may have been responsible for this plethora of aerials. When Croydon opened in 1955, it used the original 175' experimental mast but, in the early 60s, it was replaced by a new 500' mast next to it. All went well until the new mast reached the height of the original and, thereafter, the new mast cast a shadow to the east towards Southend. This also took in Grays, where I lived and worked, and Tilbury and virtually all of our customer base from Purfleet to Corringham along the Thames. Signal levels plummeted and reception became dire! As the Southend area is about twice the distance from Croydon, it was already fringe area anyway with the original mast and, with around three quarters of the new mast still to be built it wasn't going to be a quick fix! I can only guess what conditions were like there and it probably explains the aerials pointing north and south which would probably never have been erected under normal circumstances.
