Cleggy I'm sure I have read before that this is not fully accurate, even the article states there are variables. Like I've previously stated one capacitor was so badly corroded it was rough on moving due to the amount of corrosion, you couldn't really see through the gaps and on certain points it would short. Nothing was bent or out of alignment, After dismantling and careful polishing of the fixed and moving vanes the capacitor has been perfect for many years. I have also come across a fur like corrosion on alloy that is exposed to coastal conditions, many moons ago I had this on a Hillman Imp cylinder head that was left in a shed that backed onto the sea in Saltcoats. It was deeply corroded on the head surface and it required skimming prior to use.
