The above is true for long wave, but does it also explain why I have to reduce the trimmer capacitor for MW, yes I think so.
No I think that last sentence is wrong, I had to unscrew the oscillator trimmers to get the radio to cover down to the HF end of MW, so if the cause was the tuning cap decreasing in value then I would have to screw up the trimmers tightly.
I am starting to believe the change must be in the coils, MW is effected less as it has less turns and LW which has many more turns is effected far more.
I wonder if removing the coils and warming them to melt any wax away would help, or just leave it alone maybe and not worry which is probably the best option, as the radio is all back together now. (just thinking out loud)
and no its not upside down, there is a turntable on the base as it has its own frame aerial, which works very well.
