Jeffrey you are absolutely correct about the LED and transistors requiring the same polarity of co-efficient.  The years have been playing tricks on my brain. Red LEDs have -ve temp co-efficient similar to that of a silicon transistor VBE junction. NOT +ve as I stated earlier.
