To supplement my wages in the late 70's and throughout most of the 80's I worked in a garage for a while then did clutch replacements and gearbox repairs. All done at weekends. Latterly in Clydesdale I was promoted and also did their POS tills. First time I had a decent wage in the trade. I then gave up my car repair stuff. Sony and Curry's paid well and the first few years self employed was OK too, then it all just died.
