I realise this thread ended last year, but wanted to add I have also found an E772. It appears to be fine, although I got it for £1 as the meter did not appear to be working. With a little fiddling it does - probably because there are no test leads and it's not easy to get a good connection.
This one has even older batteries inside. A Vidor V0002 1.5v and a Vidor L5059 grid bias. Although the 1.5v has a case that has bubbled up there is no sign it has leaked or damaged the case. Nor has the L5059.
It's a nice unit. I would really appreciate it if Andy or anybody who has them could post the whole instruction sheet here - there is the bottom half in an earlier post only.
I am also wondering where these were used. As a 'circuit analyser' with ohms and output it does look like radio, so they can't have been totally useless!
