Well, I tried listening in the car last night but not good. At first the scan function glided straight over 648kHz with no attempt at stopping and I had to resort to tuning in 1kHz increments from the nearest frequency it would stop at!
Absolutely appalling! Obviously too far for the ground wave and too close for the sky wave!
I was also intrigued by the Co-Channel Interference. As would be expected of a frequency formerly used to cover all of Europe, there shouldn't be much competition. There are two 10kW transmitters, one in Spain and the other in Northern Slovenia but I wonder if someone has decided to hi-jack this relatively clear channel?
Certainly, one transmission was a few Hz off channel which I would have thought impossible in this modern day and age for any responsible broadcaster.
Even the WARC 79 changes made the channel spacing exact multiples of 9kHz to make this as easy as possible and technology has moved a long way on since then, so frequency accuracy is so straightforward that I wouldn't expect anything other than precision these days!
