I find that odd as well, but it is how I drew the original wiring when I got the radio, R5 is actually in the false intervalve transformer, on a different chassis to C12.
Another part which puzzles me is the cathode arrangements for V4, what is all that about. Before I traced it all out I had thought that C12, 15uF may have been a cathode bypass capacitor for V4, but it looks as if C18, 0.1uF id doing that.
Is 1k for R13 a bit high? The numbers on many of the resistors are too faint to read, but what I have been able to decipher are very close to what they actually measure, which is very good for 87 year old resistors.
