Is that not a strange procedure? I would have thought you would want to open the padder and tune the oscillator and aerial at the low frequency end first then adjust the padder to tune in at the high end.

Just looked at the photo. I thought the padders were the little capacitor tweaks but I see those are the ones in the rectangular cans.
