I have come in from the shed to warm up a little and for a coffee.
Below are a couple of photos showing the progress being made on the front lower left of the radio cabinet.
I am using Liberon wax sticks, I cut a piece off from the darkest colour, melted it and mixed in some dark jacobean wood stain to tone down the brown to a darker colour.
I am rolling a small piece of wax between my fingers to make a very thin "stick" then pushing the point into a hole and squashing it in with the flat blade of a smallish screwdriver.
Its very slow progress, but worth it to bring this old radio back into a presentable condition.
