I'm with Mark.
When I was a boy I wanted a scope but it wasn't till I worked with British Relay that I got to use one. My scope is on each and every time i'm in the shed and have to say it's the most useful tool you will ever have. Not only for learning and repairs it can also do many things from testing transformers, it can tell you if little transmitters you make are working properly to even showing TV pictures.
I'd be at a loss now without it.
Ah yes I used one to watch TV! A scope is a very usefull tool. I grew up in radio service we did not have an oscilloscope probably because no one knew how to use one and did not want to display their ignorance!
Its not an essential tool for radio repair, but every little helps!
