I'd expect the voltage on pin 8 to be approx. half the supply voltge, Lawrence, but I'm not sure whether rotating the volume control would affect the DC conditions. In theory it would as the resistance between pin 3 The + or non-inverting i/p and ground will vary between zero and 10k. Others feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!
