On the question of storage definitely a NAS. I have two drives on my network, 2TB and 3TB , both of which are DLNA meaning I can view photos and videos and play music on the TV or any PC/laptop on the network. I also have a media player which can play almost anything and can output HDMI for the TV plus PAL video for analogue TV/aurora.
